‘SPIRITUAL FORMATION’…what does this mean?
“Thou hast made us for thyself, O Lord, and our heart is restless
until it finds rest in thee.”
St. Augustine of Hippo(354-430 A.D.)
The ancient words of this philosopher turned Christian ring as true today as they did when he penned them so long ago. This we know: RESTLESSNESS is a part of the human condition. PEACE is cultivated when we tend to our spirits and draw closer to Jesus Christ. Are you interested in experiencing growth in your spiritual life? If so, a Spiritual Formation Group will begin meeting on Monday, September 25th at 7:00 pm in the Ladd Board Room. Pastor Vicki will facilitate this new small group, which will meet for eight weeks. Contact her (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you have questions or if you plan on attending the first meeting.

Hopewell in the Community
If you can tie a ribbon to a balloon, you are needed! On Saturday, August 19th, East Brandywine Township will conduct “Run for the Parks and Community Day,” and Hopewell UMC will be on-site in a big way. As an event sponsor, we will have runners in the 5K race, have designated Hopewell booth spaces for interaction with racers and community day attendees, be prominent in signage and other promotional activities, etc.
Volunteer help is needed before the event (preparing our handouts) and on-site on the day of the event (any time between 10:30am and 3:00pm).

Zoom - A New Serving Opportunity
ZOOM is a new transportation program, developed by Family Service of Chester County. The purpose is to get people to and/or from the Community Volunteers in Medicine clinic in West Chester for treatment by healthcare providers who volunteer their services.
Perhaps you could serve as a ZOOM Volunteer Driver. Drivers self-schedule themselves on-line when they have time to drive. When a ride is accepted, the Driver then contacts the Rider to arrange pick-up details. The Rider might be a pregnant woman for pre-natal care; or a mom with a child; or a senior; or others.
You can be the caring friend who provides transportation as a ZOOM Volunteer Driver.
Required: valid drivers license and proof of auto insurance.
Fee for background check paid by Volunteer Chester County.
For more information, contact Deb Boyd, email@example.com.
